A spinach jade box and cover with white jade insert plaque. The cover with a inset plaque that is pierced with a dragon amongst clouds chasing a flaming pearl under which is gilt. The sides of both the cover and box are carved in relief with archaistic stylised taotie masks. On the base there is an incised Qianlong yu wan four-character mark with gilt, which can be translated to ‘for the Imperial enjoyment of the Qianlong Emperor’. The box is carved from Spinach Jade then the plaque is of clear white jade.
